Details: Grandson of Elijah BENDOR-SAMUEL. Served with Wycliffe Bible Translators and the Summer Institute of Linguistics (SIL) since 1955. After serving as a translator in Peru, and Brazil, he visited Ghana in 1960 to initiate SIL’s work in Africa. He was the Africa Area Director of SIL from 1962 to 1983. Along with his responsibilities in Africa, he directed SIL’s British Linguistic School for 25 years. Sadly John was killed in a tragic road accident 6 January 2011.
